Welcome message to the SJC

  • The School of Journalism and Communication is the right place for students pursuing careers in media, communication and the information sector. Courses are well-chosen and developed to address the demands of the industry.
Thank you for selecting SJC as your preferred School from which you can launch your media and communications career. Our School has good facilities that cater for your teaching and study needs. Indeed you have joined the School when things are looking up for the School.
  • Thanks to the University's efforts at making the School a Center of Excellence in journalism and communications training, the School now prides itself with new radio and upcoming TV production studios, two fully-equipped multimedia computer laboratories and a relatively well-stocked library. A number of donors such as the EU and UNESCO have also been so generous to address our journalism equipment needs as well as capacity building for our staff and students. As is the nature of journalism, much is expected from you through constant practice: reading, writing, media productions and interacting with peers in the media industry.
  • The true mark of a professional journalist out of this School will be judged on the balance of what you have learnt in class and more importantly what practical skills you will take to the fast growing media industry. It is my pleasure to cordially welcome you to this promising School and hope that you will join us in taking it to greater heights as you enjoy the learning experience.

    Mr Joseph Njuguna,
Ag Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication
